Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. | Those who eat must not despise those who abstain, and those who abstain must not pass judgment on those who eat; for God has welcomed them. |
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. | Then Peter began to speak to them: “I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.” |
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. | So those who welcomed his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand persons were added. |
Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. | Go, eat your bread with enjoyment, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has long ago approved what you do. |
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. | But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God. |
