Act (2/3)

  • Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. There were added that day about three thousand souls.
  • He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’
  • We are his witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.
  • ‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’
  • The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all people everywhere should repent.
  • When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
  • Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.
  • But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
  • How I didn’t shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house.
  • All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.
  • There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!
  • God, having raised up his servant Jesus, sent him to you first to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your wickedness.
  • As they served the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Separate Barnabas and Saul for me, for the work to which I have called them.”
  • This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
  • Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
  • All these with one accord continued steadfastly in prayer and supplication, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
  • For so has the Lord commanded us, saying,
‘I have set you as a light for the Gentiles,
that you should bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.’
  • When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
  • Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
  • Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you now see and hear.
  • Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism; but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.”
  • Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.”
  • But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.
  • So the assemblies throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were built up. They were multiplied, walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
  • The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.
