| And walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. | Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. |

| Because Your favor is better than life, My lips will praise You. So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. | Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. |
| Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. | Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. |
| Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. | Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit. |

| So then, let’s not sleep as others do, but let’s be alert and sober. | So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. |
| I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. | So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. |
