Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. | For you know that the testing of your faith will develop perseverance. |
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. | Thus there are three things that endure: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. |
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. | Keep alert; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. |
For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? | What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life? |
But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine. | As for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine. |
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. | For everyone born of God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith. |
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? | With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me? |
He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. | The one who calls you is faithful, and he will accomplish this. |
Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. | And the one who searches hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. |
Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? | Therefore, heed my words. Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat or drink, or about your body and what you will wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. |
We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other. | Brethren, we must always give thanks to God for you, and it is only right that we do so. For your faith grows ever more, and the love that all of you have for one another continues to increase. |
Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. | Let no one regard you with contempt because of your youth, but serve as an example to the believers in your speech and conduct, in your love, your faith, and your purity. |
As you do not know what is the way of the wind, Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, So you do not know the works of God who makes everything. | Just as you do not know the path of the wind or how the body is formed in a woman’s womb, so you do not know the work of God, the Creator of all. |
Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. | Do not be concerned about your life and what you will have to eat, or about your body and what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. |
Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. | I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you already have so that no one may rob you of your crown. |
If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you. | If you listen to the voice of the Lord, your God, and you do what is right in his sight, if you listen to his ordinances and observe all of his laws, I will not bring upon you any of the diseases that I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you. |
Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. | Therefore, keep watch, for you do not know the day when your Lord is coming. |

But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.” | Then Peter addressed them: “I now understand how true it is that God has no favorites, but that in every nation all those who fear God and do what is right are acceptable to him.” |
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? | What then can we say in response to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. | But he is to ask with faith, without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind. |

Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. | And just as no human being comprehends any person’s innermost being except the person’s own spirit within him, so also no one comprehends what pertains to God except the Spirit of God. |
