Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. | Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear. |
The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe. | The fear of man brings a snare, But one who trusts in the Lord will be protected. |

Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. | Now whenever you fast, do not make a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they distort their faces so that they will be noticed by people when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. |
Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things. | Therefore you have no excuse, you foolish person, everyone of you who passes judgment; for in that matter in which you judge someone else, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. |
Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good. | No one is to seek his own advantage, but rather that of his neighbor. |
Therefore, when you do merciful deeds, don’t sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. | So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, so that they will be praised by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. |
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. | But as for you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that your fasting will not be noticed by people but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. |
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him. | He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him. |
Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. | Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law. |
Neither do you light a lamp and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. | Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. |
Salvation belongs to Yahweh. May your blessing be on your people. Selah. | Salvation belongs to the Lord; May Your blessing be upon Your people! Selah |
In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor prefer one another. | Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor. |
Yahweh makes poor and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up. | The Lord makes poor and rich; He humbles, He also exalts. |
Don’t judge, and you won’t be judged. Don’t condemn, and you won’t be condemned. Set free, and you will be set free. | Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. |
One man esteems one day as more important. Another esteems every day alike. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind. | One person values one day over another, another values every day the same. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. |
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work. | And God is able to make all grace overflow to you, so that, always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed. |
Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged. | Do not judge, so that you will not be judged. |
Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. | Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. |
Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits. | Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. |
But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.” | But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be in dread. |
Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up. | Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. |
He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool. | One who conceals hatred has lying lips, And one who spreads slander is a fool. |
Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law. | Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the Law. |
Not rendering evil for evil or insult for insult; but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. | Not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you would inherit a blessing. |
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. | Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. |
