This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. | This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. |

And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. |
Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness. | Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable. |
God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. | As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the Lord is refined; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. |
He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect. Everything he does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is! | The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and just is He. |
Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. | Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. |

Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham. | Now a mediator is not for one party only; but God is only one. |

But you belong to God, my dear children. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. | He is also the head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. |
The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless. | The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver, The heart of the wicked is worth little. |
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. | Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things. |
