Bible Verses about Anger

And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity.
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered.
Do not nurse hatred in your heart for any of your relatives. Confront people directly so you will not be held guilty for their sin. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may certainly rebuke your neighbor, but you are not to incur sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance, nor hold any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.
Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love makes up for all offenses.Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all offenses.
A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.
People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness. One who is slow to anger has great understanding; But one who is quick-tempered exalts foolishness.
Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.A fool always loses his temper, But a wise person holds it back.
And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”And He was saying, “That which comes out of the person, that is what defiles the person. For from within, out of the hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery, deeds of greed, wickedness, deceit, indecent behavior, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the person.”
A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.A fool’s anger is known at once, But a prudent person conceals dishonor.
Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling.Avoiding strife is an honor for a person, But any fool will quarrel.
Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.Through overconfidence comes nothing but strife, But wisdom is with those who receive counsel.
Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.Take care, brothers and sisters, that there will not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.
O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever.‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord; ‘I will not look at you in anger. For I am gracious,’ declares the Lord; ‘I will not be angry forever.’
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior, idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord.Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
