- Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
- Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
- You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. - My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever. - So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.
- A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. - Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!
- Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones. - Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.
- And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

- So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
- That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.

I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land

“At last!” the man exclaimed.
