| Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit. | Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. | The hope of the righteous ends in gladness, but the expectation of the wicked comes to nothing. | The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. |
| And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit. | But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. |

| Who is wise and understanding among you? Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom. | Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. |
| Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. | Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. |
| To make an apt answer is a joy to anyone, and a word in season, how good it is! | A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! |
| Deceit is in the mind of those who plan evil, but those who counsel peace have joy. | Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy. |

| The wise of heart will heed commandments, but a babbling fool will come to ruin. | The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. |

| But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. | But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. |
