| The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks. | The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart. |
| But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. | My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the center of your heart. | My son, pay attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. They are not to escape from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. |
| Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. | Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. |

| You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask. | You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. |
| Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you! | That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness. A poor man is better than a liar. | What is desirable in a person is his kindness, And it is better to be a poor person than a liar. |
| Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. | Create in me a clean heart, God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. |
| Like water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man. | As in water a face reflects the face, So the heart of a person reflects the person. |
| I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father who has given them to me is greater than all. | But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh. | But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. |
| For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s. | For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. |
| I will give thanks to you with uprightness of heart, when I learn your righteous judgments. | I will give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments. |
