Owe nothing to anyone except the debt of love you owe one another. The one who loves others has fulfilled the Law. | Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. |
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. | Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the scrolls were opened. Then another scroll was opened, the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their deeds, as were recorded in the scrolls. The sea gave up all the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them. The dead were judged according to their deeds. | And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books. And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and all were judged according to what they had done. |
Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. | Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. |
Above all, maintain the fervor of your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. | Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins. |
For just as in one body we have many parts, and the parts do not all have the same function, so we, though many, make up one body in Christ, and individually we are all parts of one another. | For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. |
On one Sabbath as Jesus was teaching in the synagogue, a woman was present, possessed by a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and completely unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said, “Woman, you are freed from your infirmity.” Then he laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had effected a cure on the Sabbath, and he said to the assembled people, “There are six days when work is permitted. Come on those days and be cured, and not on the Sabbath.” The Lord said to him in reply, “You hypocrites! Is there a single one of you who does not untie his ox or his donkey and lead it from its stall to give it water on the Sabbath? Should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has held bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the Sabbath?” At these words, all his adversaries were put to shame, and the people rejoiced at all the wonderful things he was doing. | Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Woman, you are set free from your ailment.” When he laid his hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the sabbath day.” But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to give it water? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the sabbath day?” When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that he was doing. |
Love one another with genuine affection. Esteem others more highly than yourself. | Love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. |
May the God of perseverance and encouragement grant that you may live in harmony with one another, following in the example of Jesus Christ. | May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus. |
Therefore, we love because he first loved us. | We love because he first loved us. |
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in uprightness, so that the man of God may be proficient and equipped for good work of every kind. | All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work. |
I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you should also love one another. | I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. |
With all humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another in a spirit of love. | With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love. |
Do not lie to one another, since you have stripped off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self that is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. | Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices and have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its creator. |
May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else, just as our love does for you. | And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we abound in love for you. |
During the day the Lord grants his kindness, and at night his praise is with me, a prayer to the living God. | By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. |
Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render fair judgments, and show kindness and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor. Do not plot evil in your heart against one another. | Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another. |
Finally, all of you should be united in spirit, sympathetic, filled with love for one another, compassionate, and humble. | Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. |
Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by mutual consent for a specified time so as to devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan may not tempt you by taking advantage of your lack of self-control. | Do not deprive one another except perhaps by agreement for a set time, to devote yourselves to prayer, and then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. |
There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death. | There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death. |
Blessed be the Lord, day after day, the God of our salvation, who carries our burden. Selah | Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Selah |
Two are better than one: they earn a far greater reward for their toil. | Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. |
Beloved, since God loved us so much, we should love one another. | Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. |
The misfortunes of the righteous man are many, but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. | Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord rescues them from them all. |
Some friends can lead us to ruin, but a true friend is closer than a brother. | Some friends play at friendship but a true friend sticks closer than one's nearest kin. |
