A neighbor who is near is better than a distant brother. - But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
- Like a father has compassion on his children,
so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him. - Jesus therefore said to them again, “Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.”
- I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever.
- But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
- For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor; if you don’t oppress the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, and don’t shed innocent blood in this place, and don’t walk after other gods to your own hurt, then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, from of old even forever more.
- Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.”
- If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him and have seen him.
- No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him.
- And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
- Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.
- Thus has Yahweh of Armies spoken, saying, ‘Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother. Don’t oppress the widow, the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.’
- Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels?
