Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes. | Our God is in heaven; he does whatever he pleases. |
But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! | Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the one who sustains me. |
|
But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. | Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. |
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. | God is our refuge and our strength, a well-proved help in times of trouble. |
For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. | God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth. |
The Lord says, “I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help. I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’ to a nation that did not call on my name.” | I was eager to respond to those who did not consult me. I was anxious to be approached by those who did not seek me. I said, “Here I am! Here I am!” to a nation that did not summon me. |
That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. | This is the end of my teaching. All has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for that is the responsibility of everyone. |
Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” | I then heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me!” |
But the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body.” | He said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. See the place where they laid him.” |
What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord, whose people he has chosen as his inheritance. | Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. |
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. | For the wages of sin is death, but the gift freely given by God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham. | Now an intermediary is not necessary when there is only one party, and God is one. |
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? | What then can we say in response to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. | This is the message that we have heard from him and that we declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness at all in him. |
Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.” | But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised, as he promised he would be. Come and see the place where he lay.” |
For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful. If you return to him, he will not continue to turn his face from you. | For the Lord, your God, is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him. |
We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. | We have come to know and to believe in the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him. |
He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day. | He is not here. He has been raised. Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee: that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified and rise again on the third day. |
For I hold you by your right hand— I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.’ | For I, the Lord, am your God and I grasp your right hand. It is I who say to you, Do not fear; I will help you. |
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. | Even should my heart and my flesh fail, God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever. |
“The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!” | The time of fulfillment has arrived, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel. |
God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. | God is faithful, and it is by him that you have been called into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. |
Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you. | Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be lengthened in the land that the Lord your God, will give you. |
God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? | God is not human, that he should lie, or the son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act, does he promise and then not fulfill it? |
For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? | Indeed, who is God except the Lord? Who is the Rock besides our God? |
