Bible Verses about 'Grief'

A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish son is a grief to his mother.
For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.Because in much wisdom there is much grief; and increasing knowledge results in increasing pain.
For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him.
Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself bore, And our pains that He carried; Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, Struck down by God, and humiliated.
The wise of heart will receive commandments, but a babbling fool will come to ruin. The wise of heart will receive commands, But a babbling fool will come to ruin.
Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity. So remove sorrow from your heart and keep pain away from your body, because childhood and the prime of life are fleeting.
And rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.“And tear your heart and not merely your garments.” Now return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in mercy And relenting of catastrophe.
Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”Then Job got up, tore his robe, and shaved his head; then he fell to the ground and worshiped. He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked I shall return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
