I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter. | And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. |
Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices and have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its creator. | Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. |
And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of him. | And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. |
I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and am going to the Father. | Yes, I came from the Father into the world, and now I will leave the world and return to the Father. |
If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true. | So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. |
