| If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. | If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are. |

| Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. | Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again. |
| Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? | Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us. |
| But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? | But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him? |
| And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. | He sat down and called the twelve; and he said to them, “If any man wants to be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.” |

| Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. | Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted. |
