For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. James 4:2	You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord. Romans 12:19	Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.” anger punishment judgment
But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Luke 14:28	For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it? debt planning money
Loyalty makes a person attractive. It is better to be poor than dishonest. Proverbs 19:22	That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness. A poor man is better than a liar. reliability money goodness
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:6	Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. faith joy reward
But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. James 1:25	But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. law blessing listening
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12	For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart. When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. Ecclesiastes 5:4	When you vow a vow to God, don’t defer to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay that which you vow. promises reliability obedience
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” John 14:8	Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” Father contentment
But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Acts 2:21	It will be that whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. salvation worship prayer
The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12	For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ. body community church
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10	The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. salvation life
So Jesus told them, “My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me.” John 7:16	Jesus therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.” Jesus Word of God learning
The church then had peace throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and it became stronger as the believers lived in the fear of the Lord. And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it also grew in numbers. Acts 9:31	So the assemblies throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were built up. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. 2 Corinthians 8:12	For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you don’t have. encouragement giving generosity
The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them. What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker?
