| I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. | I understand that man’s greatest happiness is to be glad and do well throughout his life. And when we eat and drink and find satisfaction in all our labors, this is a gift of God. |
| For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. | Now we know that if the earthly tent in which we live is destroyed, we have a dwelling prepared for us by God, a dwelling in the heavens, not made with human hands, that will be eternal. |

| So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. | Those who live according to the flesh can never be pleasing to God. |
| For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. | It is better to spend one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house than dwell inside the tents of the wicked. |
| Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. | This is how we can be certain that we abide in him and that he abides in us: he has given us a share in his Spirit. |
| For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. | Although we are human beings, we do not engage in battle according to human standards. |
| Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, for ever. | You shall obey his statutes and the commandments that I give you today, so that all may go well with you and your children after you, and that you may live long in the land that the Lord, your God, has given you for all time. |
| I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. | In peace I lie down and sleep, for only with your help, O Lord, can I rest secure. |
| Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. | Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be lengthened in the land that the Lord your God, will give you. |
| And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. | And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a sacrificial offering whose fragrance is pleasing to God. |
| For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. | For sin is no longer to have any power over you, since you are not under the Law but under grace. |
| And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. | We have come to know and to believe in the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him. |

| This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. | Hence, I advise you to be guided by the Spirit, so that you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. |
| But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. | However, if we live in the light as he himself is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son purifies us from all sin. |
| I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me. | I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set your judgments before me. |
| Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance. | Produce good fruit as proof of your repentance. |
| He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. | You who abide in the shelter of the Most High, who rest in the shadow of the Almighty, say to the Lord, “You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I place my trust.” |
| One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. | There is only one thing I ask of the Lord, just one thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, so that I may enjoy the beauty of the Lord and gaze on his temple. |

When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came to live together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. |
| Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. | God abides in anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, and that person abides in God. |
| For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. | The one who sows in his flesh will reap a harvest of corruption, but the one who sows in the Spirit will reap from the Spirit the reward of eternal life. |
| Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings. | For six days work can be done, but the seventh is a Sabbath of rest, a holy assembly. You will do no work on it; it is a Sabbath of the Lord in all of your dwellings. |
| But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. | Rather, seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. |
| Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. | Seek peace with everyone, as well as the holiness without which no one will ever see the Lord. |
