  • And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

  • House and riches are the inheritance of fathers:
    and a prudent wife is from the Lord.
  • Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
  • Iron sharpeneth iron;
    so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
  • For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
  • A friend loveth at all times,
    and a brother is born for adversity.
  • But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
  • Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
  • A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches,
    and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
  • So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
  • Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
  • Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
