While I kept silence, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long. | When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. |
All day long the wicked covet, but the righteous give and do not hold back. | He covets greedily all day long, But the righteous gives and does not spare. |

Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation. | As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. |
I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; moreover, it is God's gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil. | I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. |

It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful. | Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil. |
Proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching. | Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. |
O Lord, all my longing is known to you; my sighing is not hidden from you. | Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You. |
Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. | Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For you do not inquire wisely concerning this. |
As a deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. | As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. |
For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have. | For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have. |
Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Woman, you are set free from your ailment.” When he laid his hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the sabbath day.” But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to give it water? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the sabbath day?” When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that he was doing. | Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him. |
