- While I kept silence, my body wasted away
through my groaning all day long. - All day long the wicked covet,
but the righteous give and do not hold back. - I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being. - My mouth is filled with your praise,
and with your glory all day long. - Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
- Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long. - Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation.
- I love the Lord, because he has heard
my voice and my supplications.
Because he inclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live. - Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands and call on your name. - Go, eat your bread with enjoyment, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has long ago approved what you do.
- You must follow exactly the path that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you are to possess.
- For I am longing to see you so that I may share with you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or rather so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
- I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; moreover, it is God's gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil.
- Keep his statutes and his commandments, which I am commanding you today for your own well-being and that of your descendants after you, so that you may long remain in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.
- Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long. - O Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you, I will praise your name;
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure. - My child, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments;
for length of days and years of life
and abundant welfare they will give you. - Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful.
- Proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching.
- O Lord, all my longing is known to you;
my sighing is not hidden from you. - Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?”
For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. - As a deer longs for flowing streams,
so my soul longs for you, O God. - For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have.
- Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Woman, you are set free from your ailment.” When he laid his hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the sabbath day.” But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to give it water? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the sabbath day?” When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that he was doing.
- The reward for humility and fear of the Lord
is riches and honor and life.
Hear, my child, and accept my words,
that the years of your life may be many.The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our ancestors; may he not leave us or abandon us. Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.Next verse!With image
