What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before honor is humility.
I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass.I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?
A person’s riches may ransom their life, but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes.The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, But the poor does not hear rebuke.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man.
A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word!A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!
Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments.
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord.
For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart.Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.
The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion.
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; The simple pass on and are punished.
And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’
Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.

In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.
