After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.Now John wore a garment of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.
But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King.But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
