| And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
| Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. | Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. |

| But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ. | Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. |

| Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. | Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. |
| Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. | Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. |

| Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. | Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. |
| For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. | You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. |
| But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. | But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. |
| And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you. | May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. |
| But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God. | But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. |
| Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. | Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. |
| Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus. | May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had. |
| Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. | Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. |
| Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you. | Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. |
| For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. | For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. |
| Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. | Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. |
| Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. | Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. |
