Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise. | If you would seriously consider my reproof, I would pour out my thoughts to you and make my precepts known to you. |
I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart. | To do your will, O God, is my delight; your law is in my heart. |

But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears. | In my anguish I cried out to the Lord and called to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. |
Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. | Whoever feeds upon my flesh and drinks my blood dwells in me and I dwell in him. |
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! | Why are you so disheartened, O my soul? Why do you sigh within me? Place your hope in God; for I will once again praise him, my Savior and my God. |
I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. | In God alone is my soul at rest; it is from him that my salvation comes. |
When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. | If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. |
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. | In God alone be at rest, O my soul; it is from him that my hope comes. |
When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. | As long as I remained silent, my body wasted away as the result of my groaning throughout the day. |
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. | Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and I made no attempt to conceal my guilt. I said, “I will confess my offenses to the Lord,” and you removed the guilt of my sin. Selah |
You must keep my Sabbath days of rest and show reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord. | Observe my Sabbaths and stand in awe before my sanctuary. I am the Lord. |
The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? | The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom should I be afraid? |
Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight. | Your statutes are my everlasting heritage; they are the very joy of my heart. |
You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. | O Lord, all my longing is known to you, and my sighs are not hidden from you. |
But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. | But you, O Lord, are a shield to protect me; you are my glory and the one who raises my head high. |
You are my rock and my fortress. For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger. | You are truly my rock and my fortress; for the sake of your name, lead and guide me. |
If you love me, obey my commandments. | If you love me, you will keep my commandments. |
When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. | By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. |
But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! | Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the one who sustains me. |
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” | For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. |
I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! | I lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where will I receive help? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. |
Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous. | O Lord, hear my prayer, incline your ear to my supplications. In your faithfulness respond to me with your righteousness. |
I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” | The Lord is my portion, I say to myself; therefore, I will place my hope in him. |
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. | O God, you are my God, for whom I have been searching earnestly. My soul yearns for you and my body thirsts for you, like the earth when it is parched, arid and without water. |
So Jesus told them, “My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me.” | Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not my own; rather, it comes from him who sent me.” |
