But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. | But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. |
If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are. | God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. |

Let your loving kindness be on us, Yahweh, since we have hoped in you. | Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone. |
Yahweh, you are my God. I will exalt you! I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago, in complete faithfulness and truth. | O Lord, I will honor and praise your name, for you are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them. |
Know therefore that Yahweh your God himself is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments. | Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands. |
Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. | And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. |
Yet I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior. | I have been the Lord your God ever since I brought you out of Egypt. You must acknowledge no God but me, for there is no other savior. |
But our God is in the heavens. He does whatever he pleases. | Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes. |
God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them. | So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. |
Praise Yahweh, my soul! All that is within me, praise his holy name! | Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. |

Because the midwives feared God, he gave them families. | And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own. |
My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him. | I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. |
Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness, for you reward every man according to his work. | Unfailing love, O Lord, is yours. Surely you repay all people according to what they have done. |
Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. | Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. |
Behold, God is my helper. The Lord is the one who sustains my soul. | But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! |
No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him. | No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. |
For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether. | You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. |
You, Yahweh, remain forever. Your throne is from generation to generation. | But Lord, you remain the same forever! Your throne continues from generation to generation. |
Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you! He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. | Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt. |
Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever! Amen. | Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen. |
In you, Yahweh, I take refuge. Let me never be disappointed. Deliver me in your righteousness. | O Lord, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. Save me, for you do what is right. |
God will bless us. All the ends of the earth shall fear him. | Yes, God will bless us, and people all over the world will fear him. |
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. | God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. |
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. | God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. |
