This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. | This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. |
For from the beginning you have heard the message that we should love one another. | For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. |
|
No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends. | Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. |
You believe that there is one God. You do well to assert that. But even the demons believe and tremble. | Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. |
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. | Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. |
Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. | Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. |
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save or to destroy. Who then are you to pass judgment on a neighbor? | There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? |
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. | Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. |
Bear with one another, and forgive one another if anyone has reason to be offended with another. You must forgive just as the Lord has forgiven you. | Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. |
In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents. | Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. |
Therefore, accept one another for the glory of God, just as Christ has accepted you. | Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God. |
No one has ever seen God. It is the only Son, God, who is at the Father’s side, who has made him known. | No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. |
With all humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another in a spirit of love. | With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love. |
For one believes in the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. | For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. |
It is better to be a patient man rather than a warrior, one who controls his temper rather than one who captures a city. | He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. |
And let us consider how to spur one another to love and good works. Do not neglect to attend your assemblies, as some do, but rather encourage one another, especially since you can see the Day approaching. | And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. |
But from the very beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh.’ And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate. | But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. |
I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you already have so that no one may rob you of your crown. | Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. |
Finally, all of you should be united in spirit, sympathetic, filled with love for one another, compassionate, and humble. | Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous. |
However, the Lord is faithful. He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. | But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. |
But you, O Lord, are a shield to protect me; you are my glory and the one who raises my head high. | But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. |
However, the gift is not like the transgression. For if the transgression of one man led to the death of the many, how much greater was the overflowing effect of the grace of God and the gift of the one man Jesus Christ that has abounded for the many. | But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. |
The entire community of believers was united in heart and soul. No one claimed any of his possessions as his own, for everything was held in common. | And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. |
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. | And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. |
The one who eats everything must not look contemptuously on the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed both. | Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. |
