What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!
Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
He answered them, “He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise.”John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position; and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.Believers who are poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them. And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field.
If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool that he may become wise.Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.
Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?
Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? Then what will you think if you see the Son of Man ascend to heaven again?
So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age.For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God.
I will give thanks to you with uprightness of heart, when I learn your righteous judgments. As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should!
Let your beauty come not from the outward adorning of braiding your hair, and of wearing gold ornaments or of putting on fine clothing, but from the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.”Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!”
Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous. Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.
In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered. And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died.
Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.
You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you.Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.
For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!

Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.
