| For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. | For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. |
| But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. | But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. |

| Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. | Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. |
| For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. | You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. |
| He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. | Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool. |
| The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. | The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. |
