That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared. |
| These are the words of the Lord of hosts: Stand at the crossroads and look around; ask for the ancient paths. When you are shown where the good way lies, walk along it and your souls will find rest. However, they said, “We will not take it.” | This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’” |
| Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I say: Rejoice! | Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! |
| When someone sins and does any of the things that the Lord has forbidden, even if he does not realize he did it, he has still committed an offense and must bear his guilt. | Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church, the body of which he is the Savior. | For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. |
| Finally, find your strength in the Lord and in his mighty power. | A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. |
| The Lord makes a man’s steps secure when he approves of his conduct. | The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. |
