When you search for me, you will find me. When you seek me with all your heart. | You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. |
For I resolved that, while I was with you, I would know nothing except Jesus Christ—and him crucified. | For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. |

On one Sabbath as Jesus was teaching in the synagogue, a woman was present, possessed by a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and completely unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said, “Woman, you are freed from your infirmity.” Then he laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had effected a cure on the Sabbath, and he said to the assembled people, “There are six days when work is permitted. Come on those days and be cured, and not on the Sabbath.” The Lord said to him in reply, “You hypocrites! Is there a single one of you who does not untie his ox or his donkey and lead it from its stall to give it water on the Sabbath? Should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has held bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the Sabbath?” At these words, all his adversaries were put to shame, and the people rejoiced at all the wonderful things he was doing. | Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability.” And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God. But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the people, “There are six days in which work ought to be done. Come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” Then the Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by him. |
When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud of heart and quickly forgot me. | But when they had grazed, they became full, they were filled, and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me. |
Blessed are you when people hate you and ostracize you, when they insult you and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. | Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! |
Let your attitude be identical to that of Christ Jesus. | Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus. |
On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. | On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God said, “Let there be light!” And there was light. | And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. |
While Peter was thus imprisoned, the Church prayed fervently to God for him. | So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church. |
While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. | And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. |
After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight. | And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. |
He said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. See the place where they laid him.” | And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.” |
When pride is nurtured, disgrace soon follows, but wisdom is the hallmark of the humble. | When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom. |
But he was pierced for our offenses and crushed for our iniquity; the punishment that made us whole fell upon him, and by his bruises we have been healed. | But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. |
By faith Abraham also received the power of procreation, even though he was well past the age—and Sarah herself was barren—because he believed that the one who had made the promise would be faithful in fulfilling it. | By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. |
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; nor will the waters engulf you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not consume you. | When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. |
My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When shall I come to behold the face of God? | My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? |

But when the disciples saw him walking on the water they thought it was a ghost and they cried out, for they all had seen him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Have courage! It is I! Do not be afraid!” | But when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified.
