Bible Verses about 'Talk'

Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty! In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.
Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.
Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.
And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk back or steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way.Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.
Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret.Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.
Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don’t pursue your own interests on that day, but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day. Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day, and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly. Then the Lord will be your delight. I will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob. I, the Lord, have spoken! If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly; then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.
But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!”But when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
