| Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty! | In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury. |
| Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. | Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. |

| Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. | In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. |
| And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. | Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. | And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. |
| Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. | Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. |
| Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. | My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. |
| When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. | So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. |
| Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don’t pursue your own interests on that day, but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day. Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day, and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly. Then the Lord will be your delight. I will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob. I, the Lord, have spoken! | If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. |
| Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. | But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints. |
| But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! | Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything. | He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. |
