| But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. | Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. |

| But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!” |
| Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love! | Let your favor shine on your servant. In your unfailing love, rescue me. |
| From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. | And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! |

| Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! | What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man. |
| But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. | Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. |
| Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. | Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. |
| Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? | That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? |
| You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word. | You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope. |
