If not, then you have believed in vain. | Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place. |

| Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? | Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? |
| So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. | I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. |
| Now who is going to harm you if you are eager to do what is right? | Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? |
| The Lord will battle for you. Be calm! | The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. |
| When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; nor will the waters engulf you. | Does God give you the Spirit and work mighty deeds among you because you have kept the Law or because you believed what you have heard? | I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ. |
| Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you have faith you will see the glory of God?” | Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” |
| Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth: it is better for you that I depart. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you, whereas if I go, I will send him to you. | But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. |
| Whatever you ask for in faith-filled prayer, you will receive. | You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it. |
| And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever. | And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. |
| If you love me, you will keep my commandments. | If you love me, obey my commandments. |
| Dear children, you are from God and you have conquered them, for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. | But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. |
