- To you, O God of my fathers,
I offer thanks and praise
because you have given me wisdom and power.
Now you have made known to me
what we asked of you;
you have revealed to us the king’s dream. - Brethren, we must always give thanks to God for you, and it is only right that we do so. For your faith grows ever more, and the love that all of you have for one another continues to increase.
- I will praise you in sincerity of heart
as I ponder your righteous judgments. - I will give thanks to you among the peoples, O Lord;

proclaim that his name is exalted. - Do not worry about anything, but present your needs to God in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. Then the peace of God, which is beyond all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will permit you to find him, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.

you may ask for whatever you wish,

and guide you in the way you should go;

and keep my eyes upon you. - Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and utter all kinds of calumnies against you for my sake.

be aware that it hated me
before it hated you. - Persevere in prayer, with alert minds and thankful hearts.
- But I say to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
- You want something that you cannot have, so you commit murder. And you covet something but cannot obtain it, so you engage in quarrels and fights. You do not have because you do not ask.
- Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
- Blessed are you when people hate you and ostracize you, when they insult you and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man.
- But to those of you who are listening to me, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
