What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. There were added that day about three thousand souls.Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.”Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
Then I saw all the labor and achievement that is the envy of a man’s neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows.
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine.Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine.
God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
So then, as we have opportunity, let’s do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith.Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped. He said, “Naked I came out of my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be Yahweh’s name.”At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”
Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of Yahweh is your strength.”Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
If you walk in my statutes and keep my commandments, and do them, then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit.
Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident.Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.
Now therefore put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to Yahweh, the God of Israel.“Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
Those who are in the flesh can’t please God.Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
So you shall know wisdom to be to your soul. If you have found it, then there will be a reward: Your hope will not be cut off.Know also that wisdom is like honey for you: If you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
He said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
He said to them, “Are you also without understanding? Don’t you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can’t defile him, because it doesn’t go into his heart, but into his stomach, then into the latrine, making all foods clean?”“Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots.Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism; but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.”Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.”
