Thus he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature. | By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. |
For we brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it; but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. | For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. |

Of all that live in water you may eat these: whatever has fins and scales you may eat. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” | And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. Therefore do not let anyone condemn you in matters of food and drink or of observing festivals, new moons, or sabbaths. These are only a shadow of what is to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. | So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. |
Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one. | But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. |
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. | Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. |
If we diligently observe this entire commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, we will be in the right. | Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He has commanded us. |
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. | For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. |
Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to confirm your call and election, for if you do this, you will never stumble. For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you. | Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. |
Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these. Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, revilers, robbers—none of these will inherit the kingdom of God. | Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent. | Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. |
Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. | The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. |

Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace.
