A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.A soothing tongue is a tree of life, But perversion in it crushes the spirit.

And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ ”And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms. And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’
For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.”For, “The one who desires life, to love and see good days, Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit. He must turn away from evil and do good; He must seek peace and pursue it.”
The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious, But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up.Words from the mouth of a wise person are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him.
The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, And they go down into the inmost body.The words of a gossiper are like dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts of the body.
The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, But the poor does not hear rebuke.The ransom of a person’s life is his wealth, But the poor hears no rebuke.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.If I speak with the tongues of mankind and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.The steps of a man are established by the Lord, And He delights in his way.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.Every person’s way is right in his own eyes, But the Lord examines the hearts.
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.
A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.One who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, But one who is trustworthy conceals a matter.
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is righteous and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
