Water to drink (2/4)

The Lord’s home reaches up to the heavens, while its foundation is on the earth. He draws up water from the oceans and pours it down as rain on the land. The Lord is his name!He builds his upper chambers in the heavens and establishes his vault of the sky over the earth— the Lord is his name.
But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!”But when the disciples saw him walking on the water they thought it was a ghost and they cried out, for they all had seen him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Have courage! It is I! Do not be afraid!”
And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”Then Nehemiah added: “You now may go. Eat rich food and drink what is sweet. Moreover, send some of these to those for whom nothing has been prepared, for this day is holy to our Lord. Furthermore, do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.Blessed are those who trust in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord. They will be like a tree planted by the water that spreads out its roots to the stream. When the heat comes, it does not fear; its leaves stay green. It is not concerned in a year of drought, and it never fails to bear fruit.
The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.A generous person will be enriched; he who refreshes others will also be refreshed.
Of all the marine animals, you may eat whatever has both fins and scales. You may not, however, eat marine animals that do not have both fins and scales. They are ceremonially unclean for you.You can eat any water creature that has fins and scales; those you can eat. Whatever does not have fins or scales, you are not to eat. It is unclean for you.
Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.Whoever feeds upon my flesh and drinks my blood dwells in me and I dwell in him.
One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God! But the leader in charge of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath day. “There are six days of the week for working,” he said to the crowd. “Come on those days to be healed, not on the Sabbath.” But the Lord replied, “You hypocrites! Each of you works on the Sabbath day! Don’t you untie your ox or your donkey from its stall on the Sabbath and lead it out for water? This dear woman, a daughter of Abraham, has been held in bondage by Satan for eighteen years. Isn’t it right that she be released, even on the Sabbath?” This shamed his enemies, but all the people rejoiced at the wonderful things he did.On one Sabbath as Jesus was teaching in the synagogue, a woman was present, possessed by a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and completely unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said, “Woman, you are freed from your infirmity.” Then he laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had effected a cure on the Sabbath, and he said to the assembled people, “There are six days when work is permitted. Come on those days and be cured, and not on the Sabbath.” The Lord said to him in reply, “You hypocrites! Is there a single one of you who does not untie his ox or his donkey and lead it from its stall to give it water on the Sabbath? Should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has held bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the Sabbath?” At these words, all his adversaries were put to shame, and the people rejoiced at all the wonderful things he was doing.
Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.Rather, let justice flow like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. Not because of any righteous deeds on our part but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger.
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to place your trust in mortals.
Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.Pay to each person what is rightfully his—taxes to the one to whom taxes are due, tolls to the one to whom tolls are due, respect to the one to whom respect is due, honor to the one to whom honor is due.
“Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”Jesus then said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served but rather to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost. For the Son of Man has come to seek out and to save what was lost.
And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do as much.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free.
God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor? There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save or to destroy. Who then are you to pass judgment on a neighbor?
The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. The Lord is near to all who call out to him, to all who call out to him sincerely.

He will judge everyone according to what they have done. For God will repay everyone in accordance with what his deeds deserve.
