We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. | We are Jews by nature and not sinners from the Gentiles; nevertheless, knowing that a person is not justified by works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the Law; since by works of the Law no flesh will be justified. |
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” | So that we confidently say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?” |

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. | And not only this, but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope. |
We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him. | And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him. |
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. | See how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called children of God; and in fact we are. For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know Him. |
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. | No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us. |
Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. | Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, Lord, We have waited for You eagerly; Your name, and remembering You, is the desire of our souls. |
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. | This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. |
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. | Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need. |
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. | Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen. |
And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness. | And it will be righteousness for us if we are careful to follow all this commandment before the Lord our God, just as He commanded us. |
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. | In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. |
The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. | The one who keeps His commandments remains in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He remains in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. |
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. | He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. |
He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created. | In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures. |
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. | If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. |

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. | In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace. |
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. | By this the love of God was revealed in us, that God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him. |
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. | We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. |
