Whatsoever (3/4)

I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
What is desired in a man is steadfast love, and a poor man is better than a liar. The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
But test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward.Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow. When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord! But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.
When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes? When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?
Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
