Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah | Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms. |
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. | Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. |
|
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. | Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. |
Who “will render to each one according to his deeds” | He will judge everyone according to what they have done. |
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. | Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city. |
Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. |
But many who are first will be last, and the last first. | But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then. |
He answered and said to them, “He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.” | John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.” |
How they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. | They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires. These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural instincts because they do not have God’s Spirit in them. |
He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. | Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything. |
Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. | Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back. |
So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. | That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. |
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good. | To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper. |
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. | But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. |
Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. | God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. |
But he who endures to the end shall be saved. | But the one who endures to the end will be saved. |
Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, But counselors of peace have joy. | Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace! |
But “he who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends. | As the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.” When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them. |
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. | But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. |
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. | I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me. |
And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. | And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. |
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. | But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! |
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. | For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. |
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. | Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. |
When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.” | When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.” |
