Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God. | He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. |
Those who are wise understand these things; those who are discerning know them. For the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them. | Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein. |
The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. | But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. |
He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” | And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. |
And let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water.’ | He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. |
And the world and its desire are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever. | And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. |
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend. | He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. |
Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. | Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. |
He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord. | Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord. |
But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God. | But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. |
A generous person will be enriched, and one who gives water will get water. | The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. |
So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. | And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. |
Like a city breached, without walls, is one who lacks self-control. | He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. |
Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.” | Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. |
To get wisdom is to love oneself; to keep understanding is to prosper. | He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good. |
The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. | And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. |
Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. | Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. |
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who begets a wise son will be glad in him. | The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. |
Wealth hastily gotten will dwindle, but those who gather little by little will increase it. | Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase. |
When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but the prudent are restrained in speech. | In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. |
But the one who endures to the end will be saved. | But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. |
They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them. | He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. |
All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name. | To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. |
