So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. | Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. |
But the one who endures to the end will be saved. | But the one who endures to the end is the one who will be saved. |
And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. | And I will put My Spirit within you and bring it about that you walk in My statutes, and are careful and follow My ordinances. |
Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them. | The one who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him. |
But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. | But as for me, I will sing of Your strength; Yes, I will joyfully sing of Your faithfulness in the morning, For You have been my refuge And a place of refuge on the day of my distress. |
The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces. | The wise of heart will receive commands, But a babbling fool will come to ruin. |
And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven. | I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. |
Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. | Now I say this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows generously will also reap generously. |
Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise. | Turn to my rebuke, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. |
“Listen to me and make up your minds to honor my name,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “or I will bring a terrible curse against you. I will curse even the blessings you receive. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning to heart.” | “If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name,” says the Lord of armies, “then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart.” |
In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short. | Know that wisdom is the same for your soul; If you find it, then there will be a future, And your hope will not be cut off. |
I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. | And I will walk at liberty, For I seek Your precepts. |
Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials. But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand. Only those who are wise will know what it means. | Many will be purged, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand. |
O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever. | ‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord; ‘I will not look at you in anger. For I am gracious,’ declares the Lord; ‘I will not be angry forever.’ |
Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. | And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. |
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. | Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. |
Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. | Then you will discern righteousness, justice, And integrity, and every good path. |
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. | He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may take refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and wall. |
I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them. | And I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them. |
This is what I told them: ‘Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. Do everything as I say, and all will be well!’ | But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you shall walk entirely in the way which I command you, so that it may go well for you.’ |
Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident. | If an army encamps against me, My heart will not fear; If war arises against me, In spite of this I am confident. |
My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice! | My son, if your heart is wise, My own heart also will be glad. |
Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me. | If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. |
People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. | One who conceals his wrongdoings will not prosper, But one who confesses and abandons them will find compassion. |
But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required. | But the one who did not know it, and committed acts deserving of a beating, will receive only a few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more. |
