The Lord is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will permit you to find him, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you. | The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you. |
For one believes in the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. | For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. |
|
In view of all this, you should make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with endurance, and endurance with piety, and piety with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love. | And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. |
I lifted up my voice in prayer to him; his praise was on my tongue. | I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. |
One who is covetous will never be satisfied with money, nor will the lover of wealth be content with gain. This too is vanity. | He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. |
It is better to have a little and fear the Lord than to possess immense wealth and suffer anguish. | Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith. |
I rejoice in the Lord with all my heart; my soul exults in my God. For he has clothed me in garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of saving justice, like a bridegroom adorned with a garland or a bride bedecked with her jewels. | I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. |
Blessed are those who observe his statutes and seek him with their whole heart. | Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. |
As much as possible, and to the extent of your ability, live in peace with everyone. | If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. |
He has satisfied the thirsty and filled the hungry with good things. | For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. |
Do not associate with unbelievers. For what basis can there be for a partnership between righteousness and lawlessness? What do light and darkness have in common? | Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? |
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and give you help, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. | Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. |
The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior and a savior. He will rejoice over you with gladness and renew you through his love. He will exult over you with shouts of joy. | The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. |
When the command is given, at the sound of the archangel’s voice and the call of God’s trumpet, the Lord himself will descend from heaven, and those who have died in Christ will be the first to rise. Then those of us who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them on clouds in the air to meet the Lord. And so, we will be with the Lord forever. | For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. |
Persevere in prayer, with alert minds and thankful hearts. | Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. |
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. | In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. |
Behold, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with that person and that person with me. | Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. |
The Spirit himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God. | The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. |
For the Lord takes delight in his people, and he crowns the humble with salvation. | For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. |
In that way, I can come to you in joy, if God so wills, and be refreshed together with you. | That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed. |
May the Lord grant strength to his people. May the Lord bless his people with peace. | The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace. |
I also ask that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing. They should be adorned not with braided hair or with gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good works, as is fitting for women who profess their reverence for God. | In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. |
To the loyal, you show yourself to be loyal; to the blameless, you show yourself to be blameless. | With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright. |
I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your precepts. | With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. |
Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited. | Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. |
