| For You light my lamp; The Lord my God illumines my darkness. | For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. |
| Now no one lights a lamp and covers it over with a container, or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in may see the light. | No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. |

| Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Your light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. | Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. | Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he? | Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? |
| And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart. | And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. |

| An excellent wife, who can find her? For her worth is far above jewels. | Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. |
| Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. | Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. |
| How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. | Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. |
| And those who are in the flesh cannot please God. | So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. |

| You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. | Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. |
| For the customs of the peoples are futile; For it is wood cut from the forest, The work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool. They decorate the idol with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not totter. They are like a scarecrow in a cucumber field, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot walk! | “Can a person hide himself in hiding places So that I do not see him?” declares the Lord. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the Lord. | Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord. |
| As he came naked from his mother’s womb, so he will return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand. | As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand. |
| Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much. | Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. |
