Bible Verses about Materialism

For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it, either. If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
One who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor one who loves abundance with its income. This too is futility. He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
But He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one is affluent does his life consist of his possessions.”And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever abandon you,”Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Better is a little with the fear of the Lord Than great treasure, and turmoil with the treasure.Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith.
But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and destruction. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
As he came naked from his mother’s womb, so he will return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand.As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver. How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
Jesus said to him, “If you want to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive apparel, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.
Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion.Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me.
Therefore, treat the parts of your earthly body as dead to sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul? For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. But godliness with contentment is great gain.
A good name is to be more desired than great wealth; Favor is better than silver and gold.A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Riches do not benefit on the day of wrath, But righteousness rescues from death.Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
A rich person’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own imagination. The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.

But whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God remain in him?But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
