If they say, ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For just as lightning comes from the east and is visible even in the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. |
Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. | Make your ways known to me, O Lord; teach me your paths. |
The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. | The misfortunes of the righteous man are many, but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. |
After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. | After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight. |

And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. | Let no foul word ever pass your lips. Say only what is useful for edification, so that your words may benefit your listeners. |
But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside. | And yet he is aware of everywhere I go; if he were to test me, I would emerge like pure gold. My footsteps have not strayed from the path he established; I have followed his way and never turned aside. |
For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance. | For I know that through your prayers and with the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will result in deliverance for me. |
Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! | Blessed is the one whose offense is forgiven, whose sin is erased. |
Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward. | Be on your guard that you do not lose what we have worked to accomplish so that you will receive your reward in full. |
All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine. | Anyone who is victorious will be dressed like these in white robes, and I shall not blot his name from the book of life. Rather, I shall acknowledge it in the presence of my Father and his angels. |
Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ | Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, ‘Streams of living water shall flow from within him.’ |
You are my rock and my fortress. For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger. | You are truly my rock and my fortress; for the sake of your name, lead and guide me. |
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. | Guard your heart with all possible vigilance, for from it flow the wellsprings of life. |
Until at last the Spirit is poured out on us from heaven. Then the wilderness will become a fertile field, and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops. | Until a spirit from on high is poured out upon us, and the wilderness becomes an orchard and the fruitful field becomes a forest. |
If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. | If your brother wrongs you, go and take up the matter with him when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. |
