| If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. | So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. |
| I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain. | I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die. |
| Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil. | Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil. |
| Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil. | Wash yourselves and be clean! Get your sins out of my sight. Give up your evil ways. |
| Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. | Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. |
| Judge not, that you be not judged. | Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. |
